Whether you’re sewing for summer, 4th of July, or just want to bust your stash, this modern table runner pattern is easy to customize. I used a patriotic red, white, and blue color palette, but you can make it with any fabrics you love!

After the columns of squares are sewn together, it’s time to lay them out with the background pieces!
My table runner is finished and ready for basting! With a smaller project like this, I simply spray baste with Odif 505 basting spray, smooth and quilt!
My Baby Lock Ballad sewing machine was ready to go on this project! I decided to use a serpentine, wavy stitch down the middle of each column. Because I used the same background fabric (Kona Solid in Sky), I wanted the binding to stand out and accent the patchwork. I used a decorative stitch - it took a bit longer than typical straight stitching but I think the results are worth it!
I used Aurifil Thread 40 weight in 2805 for the quilting and 40 weight in 2280 for the binding.
