The Churn Butter Cookie Quilt is here! This fat quarter and scrap friendly quilt is such a quick project! It is block based and gives you so much creative freedom to make this your own! The pattern takes the traditional churn dash block and puts a modern spin on it by incorporating 3 various centers. The main blocks are 15.5″ and are then connected together with sashing strips and corner blocks.
Churn Butter Cookie Quilt pattern is written for 3 sizes – baby 40″x40″, throw 57″x74″ and twin 74″x91″.
I like to think of it as a skill builder pattern – it utilizes the traditional churn dash block using 4 at-a-time half-square triangle method, 4 patch blocks, quarter square triangles (aka hourglass blocks) and diamond-in-a-square blocks. There is also a tutorial on how to cut quilt sashing! I have written blog articles and tutorials on each of these blocks to assist you as you are working through the pattern!
Fabric Requirements
The fabric requirements are listed as the MINIMUM requirements to make the quilt. I have written the pattern in a format that allows the quilter to use their creativity and make it their own. You choose your own colorway and fabrics. You can certainly use more than the stated fat quarters if you want more variety. The possibilities are endless!
Because the pattern is block based, you can make any project you’d like with the blocks! Quilt, pillow, or even a table runner! Have fun with it!
