Take a look at this bright and happy project I have to share with you today! Our Aurifil Artisan challenge this month was to utilize a thread that we don’t use often. This was interesting for me because first, I don’t quilt with 40wt often, but I rarely match my fabrics and thread! I usually use a complementing thread (or variegated) across the entire project. When I bought this Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids bundle from Everyday Fabrics, I knew that matching Aurifil Thread would be a bonus in this beautiful retro rainbow!

Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids shown: Sweet Pink, Coral Reef, Raw Gold, Turmeric, Olive Oil, Warm Wave and Ocean Waves.

Take a look at my thread choices for this project! Aren’t they gorgeous? Threads shown: Aurifil Thread 40wt – #2425 Pink, #6729 Dark Coral, #2155 Caramel, #2140 Gold, #2920, Green, #2835 Aqua, and #2805 Blue.

I decided to make a cute exploding sawtooth star wall quilt with my bundle. No matter really, other than what I scratched out on paper! Maybe I’ll make this a free pattern in the future!

After piecing my fabric, I basted with Hobbs batting and quilted the wall quilt on my Juki TL2010Q.

Using the various Aurifil Threads in each color was so satisfying!

And just like that I’m finished! I think this challenge was a success with a pot of beauty and the end of this rainbow! What do you think?
